Port Congestion Report: 12 February 2026

Ongoing infrastructure updates and construction have led to elevated average wait times at ports in Africa. Ports in Morocco, including the ports of Casablanca and Tangier, experienced weather-related disruptions from the passage of several severe storms.  

Wait times remain stable across ports in Asia and Oceania. On February 5, an accident occurred on the M/V ‘Pacific 88’ at the Port of Tanjung, Indonesia, leading to roughly 30 containers falling into the sea and a temporary suspension of port operations. Multiple ports in Australia were impacted by the passage of Tropical Cyclone Mitchell on February 6, including Port Hedland. The majority of ports resumed operations by February 9.  

In the Middle East, continuing tensions between the United States and Iran led U.S. authorities to issue a warning to U.S.-flagged vessels to avoid Iranian waters and to be prepared for Iranian boardings.  

In Europe, dock worker protests against arms shipments to Israel affected operations at the ports of Hamburg and Bremen in Germany, the Port of Bilbao, Spain, and the Port of Mersin, Turkey.  

In the Americas, the Port of Veracruz, Mexico, is recovering after authorities suspended navigation at the port due to strong winds. The Port of Los Angeles, United States, saw operations disrupted at its Pier 400 APM terminal due to a power outage on the night of February 7. Some appointments for truck drivers were canceled. 

Regional Summaries

Africa 

Average wait times continue to remain high across Africa amidst ongoing infrastructure improvements and inclement weather. The highest average wait times in the region were recorded at the Port of Harcourt, Nigeria, with average wait times at 34.7 days, according to Everstream Analytics.  

The Port of Conakry, Guinea, is facing average wait times of 18.3 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, and a max wait time for anchored vessels as high as 30 days.  

The Port of Beira, Mozambique, is facing average wait times of 17.5 days according to data from Kuehne + Nagel, with Hapag-Lloyd reporting severe weather and congestion at the port.  

The Port of Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, is facing average wait times of 17.4 days, according to data from Everstream Analytics.  

The Port of Casablanca, Morocco, is facing average wait times of 4 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, as a result of severe storms that passed through the region since January 28. The Port of Tanger Med, Morocco, has also experienced disruptions as a result of the weather, although average wait times have remained at 1 day, according to Kuehne + Nagel. 

Asia & Oceania 

Ports across Asia & Oceania are reporting largely positive congestion metrics. The highest average wait times in the region were recorded at the Port of Manila, Philippines, with average wait times standing at 2.5 days, according to data from Kuehne + Nagel.  

Wait times were slightly elevated at the Port of Ningbo, China, with Kuehne + Nagel reporting average wait times of 2.1 days and a max anchored wait time of 3.5 days. The Port of Shanghai, China, is facing average wait times of 2 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, with terminal congestion and vessel bunching also reported.  

Average wait times are currently below 1 day at the Port of Fremantle, Australia, according to Everstream Analytics; however, Kuehne + Nagel reports that a bridge closure in the port area is expected to bring slightly elevated congestion. 

Middle East & South Asia 

Ports in the Middle East and South Asia are largely seeing low levels of congestion, with ports in Israel facing the highest wait times. The Port of Ashdod, Israel, is facing average wait times of 2 days, while the Port of Haifa, Israel, is facing average wait times of 1.5 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel. Both ports are still operating under emergency contingency plans with some restrictions on dangerous goods shipments.  

The Port of Colombo, Sri Lanka, is reporting 1.4 days of average wait times, according to Kuehne + Nagel, as a result of inclement weather impacts. 

Europe 

Wait times have increased slightly at ports in Europe, with inclement weather a driving factor in the increase. The highest average wait times for the region were recorded at the Port of Antwerp, Belgium, with average wait times of 3.9 days.  

The Port of Hamburg, Germany, is facing average wait times of 2.5 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, and Hapag-Lloyd reported that ice on the River Elbe has affected berthing.  

The Port of Le Havre, France, is reporting average wait times of 2.1 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, with Hapag-Lloyd reporting some disruptions from snow.  

The Port of Southampton, United Kingdom, is facing average wait times of 2.1 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, with Hapag-Lloyd reporting that the port is experiencing some backlog following a pilot closure.  

A strike occurred at the Port of Genoa, Italy, on February 6 as dock worker unions protested weapons shipments and arms transfers to Israel. The port is currently facing an average wait time of 1.7 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel. 

Americas 

Average wait times for ports in the Americas have largely recovered following severe winter weather that disrupted operations in late January. The highest wait times at any port in the region occurred at the Port of Santos, Brazil, with average wait times standing at 2.4 days, according to Everstream Analytics. Hapag-Lloyd reported that some weather delays contributed to congestion at the port.  

The Port of Montreal, Canada, is facing average wait times of 2.1 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, with weather delays leading to vessel berthing delays of 2 – 4 days, according to Hapag-Lloyd.  

Average wait times at the Port of Houston, United States, stand at 2.1 days, according to Kuehne + Nagel, with Hapag-Lloyd reporting inland congestion and some extended waits for specific berths.  

Kuehne + Nagel reported that the Port of Navegantes, Brazil, is facing average wait times of 2 days, and Hapag-Lloyd reports that only one pier is active as a result of ongoing construction.
