Severe floods in Henan province disrupt production, logistics, and infrastructure

Zhengzhou is a vital transportation hub and is one of China’s principal cities along the Belt and Road Initiative. It hosts 91 companies listed on the Chinese Stock Exchange, across sectors as diverse as technology, automotive, and pharmaceuticals. From July 18 to July 21, the city recorded almost a year’s worth of rainfall in just three days. Infrastructure in and around the city collapsed and industrial areas and organizations were forced to halt operations due to high water levels, power outages, and labor shortage.
